'Don’t be ashamed to admit that you are vulnerable.
Recognize you are taking the first steps to save your own life.'

- Carole Ann Trisler

In 2017, after a lifetime of wearing a mask, I took it off. I checked myself into a facility to treat depression. My time there allowed me to let go of my programming: Everything is ok. I’m fine. I can deal with this on my own.

Admitting to my struggles with mental health has been the single greatest thing I have done, also, the most confronting. Ever since, I have listened to and read thousands of poems. I have also been brought immeasurable comfort by embracing music.

This isn’t a play; these are the poems and songs that saved my life, in the company of some of my best friends rocking a live band, as theatre/cabaret. I want to contribute to the eradication of the stigma attached to mental health by standing up and sharing this with you. And don’t worry. This will be fucking entertaining.

We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering – these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love – these are what we stay alive for.’
- John Keating (Dead Poets Society by Tom Schulman)
